Broken Anchor Link Checker
Inspect same-page fragment links for missing or ambiguous targets. Check IDs and named anchors locally, without visiting destinations.
Enter a URL and click Fetch page source to load its HTML directly in your browser, without login cookies or a server proxy. The URL also resolves relative fragment links. For pasted HTML, this field is optional.
Some websites block browser fetching through CORS or other restrictions. If fetching fails, use View Page Source and paste the HTML below, or open a saved UTF-8 HTML file. Fetched source does not include content generated later by JavaScript. Editing inputs cancels a pending fetch.
Up to 2 MB, 25,000 elements, 2,000 checked links, and 500 selected headings. HTML is parsed without running its scripts, styles, or resources. Click Analyze or use Ctrl/Cmd + Enter.
Blank checks fragment links throughout the article scope. Specify a selector to narrow the links being checked.
Blank includes headings throughout the HTML. Use article or .entry-content to exclude menus and footers. Targets are still looked up across all supplied HTML.
Ready. Paste HTML or open a local UTF-8 file.

Duplicate target IDs
Clickable article outline
Select a heading to inspect its text, destinations, and coverage in this report. This never opens the original page or renders pasted HTML.
Check same-page anchor destinations
This page checks fragment links throughout your selected HTML, including skip links, footnotes, and non-heading targets. A valid target need not be a heading. Other-page fragments remain unverified because no requests are made.
IDs are case-sensitive. The checker compares fragment IDs and percent-decoded forms, recognizes legacy named anchors, and reports duplicate targets. Empty fragments and #top can intentionally jump to the page top. Text fragments are identified but their text matching is not evaluated.
Missing targets are missing from the supplied HTML only. JavaScript-generated TOCs, omitted sections, iframe contents, template/noscript contents, external pages, CSS visibility, smooth scrolling, sticky headers, keyboard behavior, and live layout need separate review. An existing target is not proof that it points at the intended text or scroll position. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
